Tshwane North College (TNC) students have called off a protest to allow examinations to go ahead.

Students at the college’s Block L went on the rampage earlier this month, bringing classes to a halt.

The college’s SRC president, Wandile Lubisi told Record this week, the students decided to call off the strike to allow examinations to take place.

“We will revisit our concerns after the exams,” he said.

“We want to expose the college’s corrupt management. We have remained silent for too long while management use the money meant for the National Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) for their own personal gain.

Lubisi said management had promised to subsidise students’ fees which had not materialised.

“Whenever we stand up and fight for our rights, the management calls the police to chase us off the campus,” Lubisi said.

He said students were tired of the management’s behaviour to victimise them all the time.

“We want 80% of our demands to be met,” Lubisi added.
