Tshwane municipal buses were again running as usual on Tuesday despite the suspension of some drivers.
“The remaining drivers were busy with their shifts,” said Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
A total of 98 drivers and 34 other employees have been issued with notices of suspension.
Mashigo said he was not aware of any planned disturbances in the bus services.
He said on Monday: “We initially thought interruptions would commence on Monday morning, once the drivers clocked in. However, we are running the whole fleet.”
Mashigo declined to respond when asked if more drivers would be suspended.
Drivers affiliated to the SA Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) recently went on strike, refusing to accept cash for tickets. They contended that carrying cash exposed them to the risk of robbery.
