Investigation launched into N1/N4 ‘assault’
Gauteng department of community safety launched investigation into N1/N4 'assault'.

The Gauteng department of community safety (GDCS) has launched an investigation into the alleged assault at the N4 Bakwena/N1 South interchange.
A video showing a traffic officer pushing a motorist during a heated argument at an accident scene went viral this week.
GDCS spokesperson Busaphi Nxumalo said an initial investigation has determined that the officer had attended to an accident scene and cordoned it off.
“It is alleged that the motorist in question reached the accident scene and on being approached by the officer became aggressive,” said Nxumalo.
“The department has since launched an investigation and at the conclusion of the investigation will make the findings known and action taken towards the guilty party.”
Nxumalo said the officer in question will not be performing any duties on the road for the duration of the investigation.
“We also appeal to the motorist in question to cooperate with the investigation. We want to make it clear, as the department that our officers must resist the temptation to be agitated even under extreme provocation.”
