Wonderboompoort SAPS social crime hosted a community mobilisation project to get the community involved in helping police combat crime.

On Thursday morning, the event kicked off at the Woord en Lewe Church in Mayville, attended by police and community members.

Captain Pierre Vigoureux led the event and also provided the entertainment – by singing and dancing.

The aim was to sensitise the community to crime in the area.

“We want to put the main focus on empowerment and inspiring the community who are experiencing everything from minor crime to more serious cases,” said Vigoureux.

“We put the emphasis on motivating and inspiring them; we invited powerful speakers to bring their inspiring message to the community.”
