Bank robber on the run

Police are looking for a man who could be linked to a bank robbery on Monday.

Police are on the hunt for this man who could be linked to a bank robbery on Monday morning, in Kempton Park.

Johannesburg Organised Crime unit spokesperson Warrant Officer Corne Oosthuizen said the unknown man allegedly walked into the Birchleigh-North Mall’s ABSA bank around 10:20.

“He said he was armed but the people did not see what he was armed with. He threatened to kill them and told the manager he needs some money,” said Oosthuizen.

The robber allegedly went to the tellers and filled a bag with an undisclosed amount of money.

“He then walked out.”

The man fled in a silver sedan with no back bumper, Oosthuizen said.

“Unfortunately we do not have a registration number. He could be anywhere.”

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Oosthuizen on 082-568-4489.
