Soshanguve motorists have been warned of hijackers who block roads with large stones to get them to stop, then hijack them.

Police issued a warning following a hijacking on Monday night in the area.

Police spokesperson Captain Riana van Aarde reported that this trend was gaining popularity.

“On Monday night, a Soshanguve man was on his way to his Extension 7 home and found the street barricaded with stones. An unknown male pretended to be removing the stones when the victim got out of his vehicle to assist him remove the stones. The man then pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim,” said Van Aarde.

The gunman drove away in the silver Polo Vivo registration: DJ 02 CM GP.

“No shot was fired and no one was injured. The victim was escorted by his friend to Akasia police to report the case,” said Van Aarde.
