ATM bombing at Sunnyside petrol station
Garage workers forced to lie on the ground as a group of men wearing balaclavas bomb ATM.

An ATM was blown up on Saturday evening at a Caltex garage on the corner of Nelson Mandela Drive and Willow Street in Sunnyside.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Asnath Malatsi said the bombing happened at about 21:40.
“It is alleged that three males with two rifles and a handgun entered the garage convenience store and forced four employees to lie on the ground,” she said.
“The suspects covered their faces with balaclavas. They used explosives to bomb the Capitec ATM inside the shop.”
Malatsi said the men then removed the safe, containing an undisclosed amount of money, and fled the scene.
“The men fled the scene in a Silver Toyota Corolla with no registration plates,” she said.
No shots were fired and no one was injured during the bombing.
“The suspects are still at large. Camera footage will be viewed to assist with the investigation,” Malatsi said.
