A man was shot and wounded during an argument in a tavern in Soshanguve on Monday.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said the victim apparently slapped the shooter before the trigger was pulled.

“The victim said he was sitting with his sister outside a tavern when two locals, known as Father and Adam, arrived,” said Mangena.

“After their arrival, the victim went inside the tavern to buy cigarettes. Upon his return, he found Adam sitting on his chair with his sister.”

Mangena said an argument ensued and the victim slapped Adam in the face.

“Adam pulled a gun and fired a shot that missed. He then moved closer and shot the victim in the stomach before fleeing with his friend.”

Mangena said the victim was recovering in the George Mukhari hospital.

An attempted murder docket was opened at the Soshanguve police station.
