A baby was found abandoned next to a railway line in Cullinan, Pretoria.

A baby boy was found abandoned next to a railway line in Cullinan on Sunday, police said.

The infant was brought to the Cullinan police client service centre around 11:30 by two men.

The men, aged 17 and 22, reported that they had found the child crying, wrapped in a baby blanket next to a railway line.

“A case of child negligence was opened and police investigations continue,” said police spokesperson Constable Connie Mohanedi.

The child was estimated to be aged between two and ten months.
