NATIONAL NEWS: Abducted toddler still missing

A one-year-old toddler was still missing after he was abducted from his Johannesburg home last week.

A Meyerton Park family is desperately searching for their toddler Relebohile Prince Tsotetsi who was abducted from home last Wednesday.

A group of armed men took the one year and ten month old boy after his mother, Thembi Schraffl (36) heard a knock on the door around 20:30 at their Johannesburg home.

“I opened the door and that’s when I saw two men waiting just outside the door. One pointed a gun at me and pushed me to the floor.”

She said the men asked about Relebohile before dragging her at gunpoint to her room where the toddler was.

“They saw him sleeping on the bed and one grabbed him and the other locked me and my other children in the bathroom.”

Schraffl, a widowed businesswoman, had CCTV footage showing the men entering the premises. The footage was handed over to police.

Her sister Polly Sibiloane told Rekord on Monday that the footage showed five men.

She said the men only came for the infant and nothing else was taken.

“We still haven’t found him. We even searched at Relebohile’s father’s house, but he was not there.”

Schraffl had broken up with Relebohile’s father in July, however, Sibiloane said he could be a suspect.

“His father was brought in for questioning but no suspects have been arrested. We haven’t received any call for any ransom. We haven’t heard anything.”

Relebohile was wearing a Batman T-shirt with blue, yellow and black colours and light-blue short pants when he was taken.

Meyerton police spokesperson Constable Maria Mazibuko said police were investigating.

Anyone with information on the toddler’s whereabouts should contact Constable Maria Mazibuko on 082-560-9143 or 073-364-4427.
