Man accused of murdering wife appears in court

Hammanskraal man accused of murdering wife appeared in court on Monday.

A 42-year-old man accused of murdering his wife has briefly appeared in the Temba Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

He was remanded in custody until 7 January while further investigation continue.

The accused was not asked to plead.

The man was arrested on Saturday, after allegedly killing his 32-year-old wife on Tuesday night.

Police spokesperson, Constable Herman Moremi said the man allegedly strangled his wife to death at their home in Carousel View, Hammanskraal.

“The man then reported the matter on Wednesday morning, to a ward committee member, then ran away,” said Moremi.

Moremi said the man was found hiding at his friend’s house in Portion 9, Hammanskraal.

“Temba police received a tip-off from members of the community and arrested the suspect,” he said.
