A young man arrested with his father over the illegal possession of firearms was granted bail in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court last Thursday.
Willem Nel Jnr was released on bail of R 2 000, the Hawks priority crimes unit said on Monday.
He and his father Willem were arrested over the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in Hammanskraal last Wednesday.
Charges against the 49-year-old father had been provisionally withdrawn.
The Hawks, together with the national intervention unit and inspectors of environmental management raided the pair’s house.
They allegedly found a 38 revolver, a 12-gauge shotgun, three home-made shotguns and 1 124 live ammunition for various firearms.
The father had other charges pending against him after 81 different animals were found on his premises. He failed to produce permits authorising him to have them there.
Nel Jnr would be back in court on 20 January.
