Loate police have arrested a robbery suspect and recovered a number of reportedly stolen items, including a Tshwane metro police uniform.
Police spokesperson, Constable Petunia Chabangu said on Wednesday, that members of the diplomatic policing unit conducted a raid in Slovoville, Winterveldt, to find suspects wanted for a house robbery the previous day.
“Police were looking for a Silver grey VW Polo Vivo that was taken in the house robbery in Ga-Rankuwa. The motor vehicle was traced trough a tracking device and as police approached the location of the stolen vehicle, they spotted three suspects. When the three suspects spotted the police they fled the scene in a BMW,” said Chabangu.
She said the man who was driving the vehicle was arrested a few metres from the house.
“The other suspects managed to flee on foot,” she said.
The arrested man was taken back to the house where the VW Polo Vivo was recovered.
“The police searched the house, and found a Tshwane metro police uniform, multiple stolen cellphones, three stolen identity books, two stolen driver’s licences, three stolen car keys as well as a box containing equipment used for breaking into cars,” she said.
The man was expected to appear in court soon.
“Police are continuing the search for the other two,” she said.
