Two arrested for ATM robbery
The public should take caution at ATMs after two were arrested for trying to swap a man's card.
Residents have been advised to take extra caution when drawing money from ATMs in the Pretoria CBD.
This after two men were arrested when they tried to rob a man at an ATM in the CBD on Wednesday.
The criminals approached a man who was drawing money from an ABSA ATM, and managed to swap his bank card with another, police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said.
“The ABSA team were monitoring CCTV and immediately noticed what was happening. They swiftly arrested the two men.”
She said the two men, aged 35 and 40, were expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
Selepe urged residents to refrain from accepting help from strangers at an ATM.
“Be alert and watch that no one steals your card when you turn your back. Be vigilant at all times,” she said.
