Pistorius to appear in court today

Paralympian Oscar Pistorius will appear at the North Gauteng High Court on Tuesday morning for the official postponement of his sentencing.

Various media houses have flocked outside the North Gauteng High Court on Tuesday morning for the brief appearance of murder convict Oscar Pistorius.

Pistorius will appear for the formal postponement of his sentencing procedures.

This after the Supreme Court of Appeal overturned his culpable homicide conviction to murder dolus eventualis last week in Bloemfontein.

The athlete could face a minimum sentencing of 15 years in prison.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku said Pistorius’ bail would also be discussed.

“We cannot at this stage say if we will oppose bail. That will be said in court. ”

According to reports, the Paralympian’s defence team would appeal the SCA’s ruling at the Constitutional Court.

Pistorius was serving the remainder of his five year sentence under correctional supervision after he shot dead his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013.
