A robber was arrested after staff turned on him after his accomplice shot their boss in the hip on Ventury Crescent in Hennops Park Centurion on Tuesday afternoon.

The armed robber is still at large.

Hercules police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said two men with a fire arm went inside a shop in Hennops Park where they found the owner and his two employees.

“The shop owner was shot in his hip by the robber wielding the gun,” Msimango said.

The armed robber went to the second floor of the shop while the unarmed one kept an eye on the employees and business owner.

Msimango said the employees overpowered the 40-year-old unarmed robber and detained him until police arrived.

The armed robber fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He said the business owner was taken to hospital for medical attention and was in a stable condition.

“The robber would appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court soon,” said Msimango.
