Man wounded in apparent hit
Police are investigating an attempted murder after a man was shot in what looked like a hit near the R55 on Tuesday night.
A Wespark man was shot and wounded in an apparent hit near the R55 in Laudium on Tuesday night.
Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said the man was driving along in a white Volkswagen Scirocco around 21:35 when this happened.
He was overtaken by a white BMW with no registration number near the traffic lights at Stephanus Schoeman Road.
“A passenger in the BMW started shooting at him.”
Msimango said the man sped off but then stopped to get out of his car.
“He tried to run but fell to the ground. The suspects just drove by.”
The wounded man was taken to Muelmed hospital and no arrests were made.
According to a reliable source, the man was a former crime intelligence officer who was now a cigarette dealer.
An attempted murder docket was opened at the Olievenhoutbosch police station.
