Robbers shoot man in buttocks

A man was shot in his buttocks by four men after he went outside to investigate the cause of his dogs' incessant barking.

A man was shot in the early hours of Thursday morning, outside his residence in Monument Park while investigating a strange noise he had heard.

Hi-Risk security firm spokesperson Arthur Crewe said they responded to a call of a shooting at 02:00.

“We found the man on the ground bleeding. He had been shot in one of his butt cheeks,” he said.

He said four men were hiding in the garden when the homeowner investigated.

He had heard strange noises and his dogs’ incessant barking.

The resident was confronted by four men and as he made an attempt to run back into the house, they shot him in the buttocks.

Crewe said the wound was not life-threatening, and the man was in a stable condition.

He said Hi-Risk went after the four who appeared to be travelling on foot.

“We closed off exit points, and searched around the quarry, but we battled to find the four,” he said.

He urged residents to be vigilant but not to go outside if they heard strange noises, especially at night, but to contact security firms or the police instead.
