Proteas praise England
Kagiso Rabada said he could control what people, adding he was keeping his feet on the ground following his heroics.
Proteas skipper AB de Villiers was full of praises for the England side who defeated the Proteas 2-1 in the four-match Sunfoil test series.
Despite beating England in the final test match at Centurion, de Villiers said his side was not good enough to match the English which included the likes of Joe Root, Alastair Cook and Stuart Broad.
“They have a lot of good leaders and winners. I think the future is looking bright for them. Cook is a very stable captain and I think they really have a good two years to come,” he said at the post-match conference.
The Pretoria-born player said his side had learnt a lot in the series.
“We’ve got a long way to go. It’s a bit of a rebuilding phase. We’ve lost quite a few players in the last few years but the guys who’ve come through have shown a lot of character and shown us they can take the team forward,” he said.
“I think there’s a bright future and we are looking forward to everything that’s going to come our way, and all the challenges.”
Kagiso Rabada, who took 13/144 in the match, said he could control what people said but he was keeping his feet on the ground following his heroics.
“I cannot control the uncontrollable, I don’t look at stats. Whatever happens from here happens,” he said.
Rabada also put aside the fact that he carried the South African bowling attack.
“No, Morne, Morkel, Kyle Abbott and the others do, I’m still a young star and I’m still learning.”
Proteas coach Russell Domingo said he was not under pressure besides losing two consecutive test series.
“When you lose, there’s always going to be a noise but as a coach, you’ve got to accept criticism. If the players are giving everything, then I’m happy.
Domingo also took time to praise the English team.
“They had four seamers and a spinner and we couldn’t match them. They are where we were four years ago when we took over the number one spot,” he said.
