Young coaches graduate

Young cricket coaches from ETA College graduated at the Supersport Park.

The Titans hosted the graduation ceremony of the ETA College graduates last week at SuperSport Park, Centurion.

Each of the 18 graduates received a certificate in sports club administration.

ETA College regional manager Wian de Wet gave words of encouragement to the graduates.

“Guys, go out there and enjoy life, there are so many opportunities…”

“We needed people with vision when we started this course and we are satisfied with what we have achieved. All of these graduates are from Pretoria and some of them play cricket full time so it is a blessing to see them graduate this afternoon,” he said.

Thabang Khumalo from Mamelodi was one of the graduates who said he has been coaching for nearly 11 years.

“I have started coaching cricket at the age of 20 while I was also playing for the Northerns. For me to graduate today is very special.”

Khumalo, who does not play cricket anymore, said he enjoyed the environment.

“The cricketing environment is just different. There is something special about being on the pitch and playing cricket.”

“My job now is the go out there and coach the young ones. It challenges you physically and mentally. Hopefully in the next few years I would be one of the top coaches in the country.”

Khumalo’s dream is to one day see his players represent the Titans and the Proteas.
