No case has been opened with the police after a robber was shot near Mayville Mall in the Moot earlier today.
Wonderboompoort police’s Captain Danie de Jager confirmed the incident.
“The man who was robbed disappeared and failed to open a case with the police.”
Wonderboompoort community policing forum (CPF) chairperson Albert Michau said the robber was believed to have stolen a laptop bag out of a car in the parking lot.
“He fled in a northern direction towards the Apies river.”
Michau said a police officer fired a shot and wounded the fleeing robber in the leg.
“The man ran towards the river where he was arrested,” he said.
Paramedics treated the robber on the scene before he was taken to Steve Biko Academic hospital.
