Burglars lose stolen TV set while fleeing
Burglars broke into a house in Kilnerpark but lost their stolen goods when fleeing the scene.
Two burglars lost half their stolen loot when they escaped from the scene of their crime, a house in Kilnerpark, at the weekend.
Kilnerpark security company spokesperson Ancelize van der Kooi said the men broke into the house at 05:50 on Saturday morning with the occupant, an elderly woman, sleeping inside.
“A newspaper delivery woman saw them breaking into the house on Gordon Street and immediately contacted us [the security company] and our patrollers chased them [the robbers] past Queenswood Primary School.”
The men had loaded two plasma screen TVs onto a white Ford Bantam but because they were driving at high speed in an attempt to evade the guards chasing them, one TV fell off, she said.
“Two of our officers returned to Gordon Street and found the elderly woman had been awakened by our control room staff to inform her of what had happened. The woman had slept through the burglary, and had not heard a thing.”
“The TV that had fallen off was returned to its owner.”
