‘Take a girl child to work’ campaign brings joy to pupils

Police entertain pupils during the Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work campaign.

The police did their bit in the effort to bring encouragement to young girls via the Take a Girl Child To Work campaign this past week.

Girls from 10 schools around Pretoria visited the Tshwane police academy where they listened to the police band and saw a demonstration by the police horseback unit.

The Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work campaign began in 2003, and targets grade 10 and 12 female pupils with the aim of exposing them to various career opportunities.

The police also took the opportunity to raise the awareness of the pupils to crimes affecting children, discuss gender issues, promote the rights of girl children and encouraged the pupils to acquire the skills to contribute to the growth of the economy and greater society.
