Three men were arrested over car theft after a hair-raising chase in Hercules on Monday,
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the fugitives were caught around 11:30 on the corner of Bezuidenhout street and Schurmanns avenue near the Laerskool Tuinrand.
Police were tipped-off by a woman who spotted a car advertised as stolen last week.
“She saw the vehicle passing down her street and immediately alerted the police,” Selepe said,
“This morning police on patrol came across the same vehicle, with a matching registration number,”
Selepe said the three occupants fled when the police approached them and a chase ensued.
“During the chase, the car collided with two other vehicles in Hercules. Luckily no one was injured as the accident was not serious.”
Selepe said three men were arrested on the scene. The car was stolen in Pretoria West last year.
“They were arrested for driving a stolen vehicle, possession of house breaking equipment and attempted murder,” she said.
The three were expected to appear in court soon.
