Power restored to primary school week later
A faulty cable was the cause of the outage and metro technicians have since repaired it.
Power supply has been restored to Lynnwood Ridge Primary School east of Pretoria following a week-long wait.
Chairperson of the school governing body Thabang Chiloane said supply was restored on Wednesday afternoon.
He said a faulty cable was identified and attended to by metro technicians according to the reports from the primary school.
Chiloane said it was very difficult for a academic programmes to continue at school without power especially during the exam season when exam paper had to be copied for all pupils taking the exam.
Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashego reiterated that a cable was to blame.
He said technicians were instructed to ‘execute repairs’ during the week at the primary school.
“They [technicians] had to first identify the fault, excavate [the area] and repair the cable,” Mashigo said.
The school had been without power since a transformer blew up on Monday last week, said Chiloane.
