Court gives Henning wings – locally
Nico Henning’s bail of R10 million has been extended and his bail conditions amended allowing him to use his airplane locally.
The wealthy Pretoria businessman accused of conspiring to murder his wife, Chanelle, may fly again The Citizen reported.
Henning’s criminal trial was on Monday once again postponed in the South Gauteng High Court in Pretoria – this time until October – but his bail conditions were altered, allowing him to use his airplane again.
The 46-year-old Henning’s bail of R10 million was extended, but his bail conditions were amended to give him more freedom of movement, although he may still not come within 1km of any international point of departure.
In terms of his new bail conditions, Hennings may now use his aircraft and fly locally, but his young son may not be a passenger without the investigating officer’s written permission.
He must also inform the investigating officer in advance of his destinations and who he intends seeing.
Henning was forbidden to either directly or indirectly contact a long list of potential state witnesses, including his former wife and his wife’s self-confessed killers, former policeman Andre Gouws and former Nigerian olympic athlete Ambrose Monye.
He may also not contact his brother and sister, Francois and Magda Henning.
Chanelle Henning, 25, was gunned down in a drive-by shooting near her son’s creche in Faerie Glen on the morning of November 8, 2011.
