31 arrested in CBD
“We urge members of the public to be aware of the bogus salespersons in the retail stores. They pretend to be working in the store and promise to sell products at affordable prices.”
Thirty-one lawbreakers were arrested for various crimes in the CBD at the weekend.
Central police spokesperson captain Augustinah Selepe said 18 people were arrested for drug possession, five for drunk driving, and five for theft from various shops in the CBD.
“In another incident, on Friday, three suspects were arrested for robbery with a firearm,” she said.
The complainant told the police that he was approached by three men who frisked him and took R1 200 from him before fleeing.
Selepe said the culprits were arrested with the assistance of the Tshwane metro police who followed the crime from CCTV because it was captured by metro cameras.
She urged the public to be cautious of fake salespersons in retail stores.
“They pretend to be working in the store and promise to sell products at affordable prices but take your money and vanish instead,” said Selepe.
