Man arrested for defrauding furniture shops
He was arrested after trying to con a furniture store at Central City out of goods valued at thousands of rands.
An alleged fraudster, who has conned several furniture stores out of expensive furniture, was arrested on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Constable Petunia Chabangu said the 39-year-old man had been wanted for defrauding several shops around Mabopane and Soshanguve.
“The man was arrested after he had conned Bears Furniture Store at Central City out of goods valued at thousands of rands,” she said.
“He used his identity document to open accounts. He used the details of his friend’s work to confirm employment, and he used an address different to his residential address for delivery of the goods,” said Chabangu.
The suspect has been linked to other cases of fraud that was reported at Rietgat and Akasia police stations.
At some shops the man allegedly arrived to collect furniture with transport he arranged himself.
He is expected to appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court soon to face fraud charges.
