Proteas return to Centurion next month
Pretorians will once again get to watch the Proteas as they take on New Zealand in 27 August.
SuperSport Park in Centurion will host the second and final test match between South Africa and New Zealand next month.
The sixth-ranked Proteas side have switched their mind to the red ball after an unsuccessful triangular One Day Series in the West Indies where they played against Australia and the Windies.
Players like Quinton de Kock and Chris Morris, who have tasted success with the Titans recently, will surely be grateful of the home ground advantage.
De Kock, who has become a regular in all formats, made the number seven spot his own in the test squad following his century in SuperSport Park early this year.
Morris scored a half century against England in Cape Town and would like another chance to fight for his place in the team.
With Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander set to make their return after a lengthy period out of the side, it could get tough for Morris and Kyle Abbott to get game time.
It remains to be seen if coach Russell Domingo would go for the classic lineup of Steyn, Philander and Morkel in the bowling unit, which has often been a success.
The trio could be also find it tough after the emergence of Kagiso Rabada, who led the Proteas’ bowling attack in the absence of Steyn and Philander.
In an interview with Supersport, Steyn said he was fit and ready to go.
“The injuries I got last year were freak injuries. I feel good and hopefully I will be fine. I am fit and raring to go,”
The Black Caps on the other hand, have not had much success against South Africa since eliminating them from the 2015 World Cup.
The last time the Proteas played in SuperSport Park was in January where they dismantled the English by 280 runs with the young Kagiso Rabada finishing with figures of 13/144.
