Orlando Pirates legend gives back

Lucky Lekgwathi hosted a soccer tournament at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve.

Orlando Pirates legend, Lucky Lekgwathi is ploughing back into his community of Soshanguve.

The player, through his Lucky Lekgwathi Foundation, hosted a soccer tournament at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve where many legends of the game participated.

The 5-day tournament from 23 July 23, attracted a substantial crowd as well as legends such as former Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs defender Jimmy Tau and Pirates’ Tonic Chabalala, Benedict Vilakazi and Abednigo Netshodwe.

Several of Pirates’ current players such as Tendai Ndoro, Thamasanqa Gabuza and Thabo Matlaba were also in the crowd.

Thirty-two teams participated from Saturday and the tournament and its R55 000 cash prize were eventually won by Real Madrid.

“It’s about giving back to the community. Two years back, I won the greatest leader award beating many deserving leaders because of the support from my community. It is good for me to give back. I am not rich, but there is more that I have and it is good to give back,” the former Bucs captain said.
