Former pupils donate to alma mater

76 pairs of shoes, valued around R8 000, were donated to Boikantsho Primary School.

Former Boikantsho Primary School pupils donated shoes and socks to current pupils on Friday.

The 10 former pupils now businessmen, attorneys and doctors, made the donation of 76 pairs of shoes, valued around R8 000, to grades 1 and 3 pupils of the Mamelodi East school.

In return, the pupils promised the donors that they would always keep their shoes shiny.

Kebalepile Sibiya, one of the donors, said the former pupils met on social media and decided to do something for their former school, especially the foundation phase pupils.

Teacher, Frangelinah Moeti said she was very happy with the generous donation which was desperately needed.

“Most of the pupils have no shoes and they will wear them proudly,” she said adding that she hoped this would encourage them to come to school everyday.

She thanked the donors and challenged them to continue doing good.
