Shooting victim recovering
He’s been removed from the machines, but is still in ICU.
A Centurion man is on his way to recovery after he was shot and wounded last week.
Danie van Reenen (51) was even trying to smile, said his friend Ulandie Hertzog.
Van Reenen was shot in the stomach when two men robbed him of his Rolex watch in the parking area of Eldoraigne Village Shopping Centre in Centurion.
Hertzog said both Van Reenen’s emergency operations went well.
She said when he woke up from his operations for the first time, he was able to answer questions by nodding or shaking his head.
“He even tried smiling at a little joke,” she said.
“He is stable and getting stronger every day. He had a bit of high blood pressure and fever, but the hospital staff has it under control”
Hertzog said he had been removed from the machines, but was still in the intensive care unit.
Wierdabrug police spokesperson Constabkle Tumisang Moloto said no arrests had been made.
“The investigating officer is still following up information.”
