Swift action by police led to the speedy recovery of a car stolen from Waterkloof Glen shopping centre on Tuesday.
Garsfontein police spokesperson Captain Ilze Jones said a sliver Toyota Yaris was stolen when the Garsfontein owner and his partner visited a restaurant at around 21:00.
“The vehicle was gone when they returned.”
She said a combined search between members from different police stations in the cluster, headed up by Captain Corbit of Garsfontein police, led to the car’s recovery.
Jones said a tracker signal from the vehicle was first picked up in Tembisa. Later it registered in the Elarduspark area and the car was ultimately recovered at Cornwall Hill shopping centre around 12:30 on Thursday.
“The vehicle was being held at a police facility and the owner was notified of the recovery,” said Jones.
“The vehicle had minor damage, such as a battered dashboard with other interior damage, but it was in one piece.”
Jones said no arrests had been made but investigations were ongoing.
