“The suspect died this morning due to severe burns. It is believed she caught fire during the act.”

A woman has died who was suspected to have been part of a group who torched a Tshwane Rapit Transit (TRT) last week.

She died in hospital on Tuesday morning.

Last Wednesday dismissed TRT bus drivers attacked a stationary bus with a petrol bomb at Steve Biko academic hospital.

Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the woman was arrested following the acts.

“The suspect died this morning due to severe burns. It is believed she caught fire during the act,” she said.

“Four passengers including a student were injured and transported to hospital.”

Selepe said four more people were arrested in connection of the burning of the bus.

“Following police investigations, four more people were arrested and will appear in court tomorrow (Wednesday) for public damage and malicious damage to property.”

More arrests will follow, she said.
