Armed robbers still at large
The police are looking for three men who committed three armed robberies.
Police announced on Thursday they were still searching for three men in connection with separate armed robberies in Mamelodi East.
The men had been identified earlier and police said they would not rest until the men had been arrested.
The men were believed to be between 20 and 35, said spokesperson Captain Michael Mbewe.
On 3 July, one of the men allegedly held up a delivery truck driver and his assistant before robbing them of an undisclosed amount of money.
Mbewe said the man, believed to be between 25 and 35, locked his victims in the back of the truck before fleeing.
On the same day, an armed man believed to be in his early 20s, allegedly held up a man outside a BP petrol station in Mamelodi East and demanded his cellphone and money.
Mbewe said on 19 July, the third man “together with his four accomplices robbed a furniture shop in Mamelodi East”.
Mbewe said staff were forced into an office and robbed of their cellphones. The men also stole furniture before fleeing.
Mbewe warned residents against trying to approach these men if spotted and said people should rather notify the police.
“The men may be armed and dangerous,” said Mbewe.
