Two drug dealers nabbed

One of the men was caught red-handed packaging dagga.

Two drug dealers were arrested in two separate cases in Mooiplaas, Erasmia, on Tuesday.

Erasmia police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said the arrests were a joint operation between police units, Silverton K9 unit and Erasmia crime prevention unit.

“The team received a tip-off from the residents about a shack regarded as the warehouse for dagga in the area,” he said.

Moloto said police followed up the information and raided the shack around 11:30.

“Upon arrival, a 17-year-old man was caught packaging dagga. He was arrested and a few minutes later, information emerged that another Mooikloof resident was also in possession of dagga.”

“Police patrolled the area and spotted the man. Police stopped and searched him and found dagga stashed in his pockets.”

A 32-year-old man was also arrested and detained at Erasmia police station, he said.

Moloto said the dagga confiscated on the day had an estimated street value of R10 000.

“A case of dealing and possession of dagga was opened at Erasmia police station for further police investigation and suspects will appear in the Attridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.”
