Decomposed bodies found in bed

The bodies of a man and his wife were found at Marikana M1 in Soshanguve.

Two badly decomposed bodies were found in Soshanguve on Monday morning, police said.

Police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka said the bodies of a man and his wife were found in Marikana M1.

“Concerned neighbours went to the couple’s home after they had not seen them for a few days. The neighbours were greeted by flies when they entered the couple’s yard. They found the couple lying unresponsive in the bed and immediately contacted the police,” said Maluleka.

The man (36) and his wife (34) can not be named until their families have been notified.

Two cartridges and a 9mm pistol were found next to the bodies.

“Their bodies were badly decomposed. The man had a gunshot wound to his head. It was not immediately clear where the woman might have been shot due to decomposition. For now that is part of forensic investigations,” he said.

“We suspect they have been dead since last Thursday.”

Maluleka said police were investigating a case of murder.

He said the couple’s three cars were still parked in the yard.

“Nothing was taken from the house,” he said.
