A mob has burned down the house of a man believed to be a member of a house-breaking syndicate in Mmotla, Hammanskraal.
Police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said the mob burned the house down around 21:00 on Monday.
“Residents suspected the owner was also involved in a number of robberies in their community,” said Moremi.
The man and his family were not home.
The drama begun when the homeowner was accused in the murder of two people in Moeka Village on Sunday morning.
“It is alleged the man, Steven Chauke 33, was part of a gang that committed the crime,” he said, adding that the gang had escaped.
No arrests had yet been made and a case of arson is being investigated.
“Everything inside the house was reduced to ashes,” said Moremi.
