A man was assaulted and robbed in the West of Pretoria on Thursday night.
Mother of the victim Mari Goosen said her 22-year-old son Shaun Goosen had just left work around 19:30.
Shaun had received a lift from a friend who had dropped him off on Van Der Hoff Road near Booysens.
Two men ambushed him when he was walking home on Dorp Street.
Mari said two men pointed a gun on him and demanded his bag with valuables.
“Shaun said he felt a cold barrel of a gun on his neck. The two men were behind him.”
Mari said the men assaulted Shaun and fled with his bag, his cellphone, bank cards and other valuables.
“They kicked him numerous times before they ran away.”
She said she was driving into their home from a prayer meeting, when she saw Shaun walking back with his head bleeding.
“He said the men were wearing blue overalls and construction boots,” she said.
Mari said what hurt her most about Shaun’s attack was that motorists were driving past when he was being beaten without stopping to assist him.
She was just thankful that he was safe and said that’s what mattered.
A complaint was lodged at the Hercules police station.
Hercules police could not confirm the attack at the time of publishing.
