Police have remained silent on the details of a robbery at the weekend.
A jewellery store near the Spar inside the recently opened Menlyn Maine was allegedly robbed on Saturday.
Police opted to withhold most information.
An inquiry was sent to Sunnyside cluster commander police Captain Daniel Mavimbela who only confirmed the robbery did occur.
Asked questions about the robbery including how many men were involved Mavimbela only said a case of business robbery was opened.
“Kindly note that preliminary investigations are at a sensitive stage. Our officers are following all leads,” said Mavimba.
Rekord had received information that two men dressed as contractors were involved in the robbery.
The source said the perpetrators fled in a white Golf and silver BMW in the direction of the highway.
It was unclear at time of publishing if the men were armed.
