‘Armed robber’ apprehended, accomplice on the loose
A man was arrested by residents following a failed robbery.
A man has been arrested for attempted house robbery in Laudium.
According to a statement by local community patrollers, two men tried to rob a house in 9th Avenue on Tuesday morning but residents and patrollers chased them.
One was apprehended in a citizen’s arrest, while the other escaped.
The patrollers said when the man was cornered he had jumped over a school fence in an effort to escape, and was arrested on the school yard.
“One suspect apprehended and another fled on foot… wearing army pants,” read the statement.
The patrollers also commended the police for their swift reaction to the call for help.
“All the pupils are okay.”
The patrollers said the police recovered a loaded shot gun which had been used by the men.
The police were not immediately available for comment.
