A disabled teenager died when a bakkie and a minibus taxi collided on the R25 in Bronkhorstpruit on Tuesday morning.
Emergency service, Netcare 911 said the minibus taxi was ferrying disabled children to school.
“Two people, including the teenager, died after an accident on the R25 in Bronkhorstpruit, Gauteng. Netcare911 paramedics worked alongside paramedics from the provincial EMS on the scene,” said Netcare 911’s Athlenda Mathe.
Mathe said 24 disabled children were injured.
“Two are in a critical condition, the rest sustained moderate to minor injuries. The Netcare 911 helicopter has airlifted one of the children to a hospital in Johannesburg. The rest of the injured children were stabilised on the scene and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital,” added Mathe.
The second fatality was the driver of the bakkie.
