Criminals had nowhere to run due to the quick response of a security firm in the east.
Bull Security had its hands full this week bringing several criminals to book.
Bull Security operations manager JP Griesel said on Wednesday afternoon the company had arrested two men found in possession of stolen items.
He said a security guard spotted suspicious activity at a residence in Dunie Street in Elardus Park around 13:00 and went to investigate.
“He quickly apprehended the two men in a white VW golf.”
And in the car, Griesel said, the guard found TVs and other appliances.
“Our officers are on the scene awaiting the police.”
On Tuesday night Bull security made another arrest in Elardus Park following a tip off from a client that a suspected drug dealer was in the area.
Griesel said his guards responded and caught the suspect with a bag of dagga in his possession.
The man was later handed over to the Lyttelton police.
Police were yet to confirm the arrest.
Also on Tuesday , the company’s guards pounced on a burglar.
Griesel said the unlucky burglar jumped over a fence into a property in Hoyt Cresent, Moreleta Park only to be attacked by dogs.
He said the man was found in possession of housebreaking tools.
“The dogs attacked him and the commotion awoke the homeowner who found the man pinned down by his dogs.”
Griesel said the homeowner called the security company.
“Our reaction officers went to the residence and apprehended the man before handing him over to the Garsfontein police.”
Garsfontein police spokesperson Captain Ilze Jones confirmed the arrest and said the man was in hospital under police guard and would have his day in court once discharged.
On Monday, Bull Security’s tactical unit responded to a fight that turned out to be an armed robbery on the corner of Nossob and Jochemus streets in Erasmuskloof.
Spokesperson French Jooste said a robber had shot a vendor in the hand, and a fracas between the two broke out.
“Community members joined in to fight off the shooter.”
He said a gun with its serial number filed off, and believed to be the one used in the shooting was later recovered in the field nearby.
Brooklyn police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach confirmed a man was arrested on Monday.
She said the man was in hospital under police guard because the community had assaulted him with sticks and stones.
She said the police believed four men robbed a 30-year-old cigarette vendor of his cash and other belongings around 17:30.
Weilbach said people came to the vendor’s aid, disarmed the armed attacker before assaulting him.
She said the attacker’s accomplices fled.
She said the 26-year-old would be charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
“The vendor was also taken to hospital.”
On Sunday two VW Polos stolen in Faerie Glen were recovered in the east of Pretoria. Bull security said the vehicles were recovered with the help of Rentrak and Matrix vehicle tracking.
Griesel lauded his guards and all involved the arrests for always reacting promptly in the service of their communities.
