The Winterveldt police are on the manhunt for three men who robbed a couple before abducting the woman.
Police spokesperson Captain Samuel Sebola said three armed men surprised a couple in their home in Winterveldt on Thursday morning.
“They found the homeowner and his wife sleeping, tied up with a cable,” said Sebola adding that the robbers had demanded money before stealing the plasma screen TV and cellphones.
“They then kidnapped the 27-year-old wife and fled.”
He said police had since launched a manhunt for the robbers.
“We are following a lead but at this stage we would prefer if the names of the victims are not published for fear of compromising the case,” he said adding that the police were closing in on the suspects.
The husband, who was still shaken, appealed to residents who might have information that can assist the police investigation to come forward.
