Armed robbery unsolved

Be cautious at night and do not open the door to anyone.

Mamelodi East police is searching for a man in connection with an armed house robbery in the township.

The man in the picture was believed to be aged between 25 and 30, said police spokesperson Captain Michael Mbewe.

Two men came to the complainant’s house around 21:00 on 20 August in Mamelodi East and knocked on the door.

“The duo pretended to be looking for help and they held the whole family at gunpoint and took them to another room,” said Mbewe.

“They started searching the house and later fled with the family car,” said Mbewe.

Mbewe warned people to be cautious at night and not open the door to anyone.

“Ask who is knocking and enquire what the visitor wants.”

Mbewe advised residents against trying to catch the man if he was seen, urging them to notify the police instead.

“The man may be armed and dangerous,” said Mbewe.

The police could be reached on 08600-10111.
