Hunt still on for baby napper
“In the morning before the mother left for work, she left the child in the care of [one of the tenants].”
Police are still searching for a woman who allegedly kidnapped a five-month-old baby two weeks ago.
Temba police spokesperson Captain Sarah Lesabane said the police were still on the woman’s trail.
Constable Herman Moremi said the girl was taken from her home in Marokolong, north of Pretoria.
Moremi said the child’s mother had rented out a room at the back of her house to two tenants.
“In the morning before the mother left for work, she left the child in the care of [one of the tenants].”
The other tenant was cleaning the yard, he said.
Moremi said the woman who was babysitting had to rush to the clinic and asked her roommate to look after the baby.
“When the tenant returned she found the room locked and the ‘kidnapper’ and child were gone. She immediately informed the mother,” he said.
Moremi said the two women did not know the alleged kidnapper’s identity, except that she had told them she was from Zimbabwe.
