A sexual assault charge against a Pretoria teacher is being investigated, police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said on Tuesday.
He said the probe was being conducted by the family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit at Hercules police station.
The male teacher is accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy.
“A warning statement was obtained from the teacher and the matter was forwarded to the senior public prosecutor for a decision,” said Msimango.
He said no arrests had been made so far.
Pretoria psychologist Antoinette Human had laid the charge.
She said she did so after discovering that the victim, a teenager boy, had been touched inappropriately by the male teacher.
This apparently happened more than once.
Human, an educational psychologist, was treating the boy after his mother found out that he had been secretly cutting himself.
After establishing the cause of this conduct, Human decided to lay a criminal charge.
The boy had since dropped out of school.
Rekord has spoken to the department of justice and education, who has yet to respond to enquiries sent to them.
