Metro restores normalcy in CBD
“The vandalism, looting and antagonising of law enforcement will not be tolerated…”
The Tshwane metro is restoring order to the city centre after protest action left the CBD dysfunctional on Wednesday.
Members of the DA, EFF and SaveSouthAfrica took to the streets on Wednesday to demand that President Jacob Zuma step down and to show their support for Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.
Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga confirmed that the marchers had damaged property in Pretoria, which he condemned.

The metro said it would explore ways to ensure that this unlawful conduct did not repeat itself in future and that protest action remained within the confines of the law.
The Pretoria CBD was declared dysfunctional when EFF marchers veered off the agreed route and spread to other streets and in all directions.

“The vandalism, looting and antagonising of law enforcement will not be tolerated and we encourage local law authorities to take the appropriate action against those who were responsible for conduct not befitting a democratic protest,” said the metro.
Msimanga has vowed to do his part to ensure that the city’s cleanliness is restored.
