Police eager to solve ‘missing head’ mystery

The police have asked for help to solve the mystery of the headless body found in Pretoria east recently.
The body of a man was found near a ditch next to the N4 towards Bronkhorspruit four months ago.
Silverton police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said no new information had surfaced regarding the missing head of the body presumed to have been decapitated from being run over by cars several times.
Sepato said a lengthy search of the area for the head had borne no result.
He appealed to the public for any information that would aid in the finding of the man’s head.
Sepato said that the man’s head could have stuck to a vehicle or crushed.
“Police confirm that the body was collected from a government mortuary and taken up north of South Africa for burial.”
Sepato said the entire police force believed no family deserved to bury a loved one with missing body parts.
He said the hunt for the head continued simply to give the family closure.
He reiterated that pedestrians crossing the N4 highway would be arrested for obstructing traffic.
“We monitor the freeway constantly, and confirm [that] 15 people were arrested and fined this week for obstructing traffic,” Sepato said.
