Two men were caught by the police and Monitor Net Security in Centurion on Friday evening after a car chase.
A statement released by Hannes Du Buisson from Centurion Concerned Citizens (CCC) said a call came through on the Zello community radio channel about a resident who had spotted a silver
Volkswagen Polo racing from a house in Knoets Street and people shouting and running after the car. The resident followed the vehicle and reported its location, but lost it.
Du Buisson said they broadcast the chase on their channels. A reaction unit of Monitor Net spotted the vehicle on the corners Strandloper and Panorama roads.
He said the reaction unit chased the Polo and informed Wierdabrug police about the whereabouts.
“The suspects saw the police coming and made a turn, abandoned their vehicle and tried to flee. Two suspects were apprehended,” Du Buisson said.
He said a television set and golf clubs were found in the car. The golf clubs matched the description of clubs stolen from the house in Suid Street, where a burglary had been reported earlier.
CCC commended Wierdabrug police, Monitor Net and residents who collaborated to fight crime in the area.
